Get Your Groove On - Interview Spring 2009
The naughties were a very important decade for me. The Buzz Club (which started in the spring of 1995) was still going very strong and I had just created a new club night called Yum Yum which had just moved to Northampton's Picturedrome venue.
Both nights have now become legendary events both locally and nationally.
During this time I did quite a few interviews for both magazine and radio but I remember doing an interview for Flash Magazine written by Clair (Bickers) Tallentire who was a good friend and local supporter of all the amazing musical happenings we put on at the time.
Anyway I was doing some digging through some old memorabilia and found a copy of that interview and decided to post it up here for posterity.
This is dedicated to everybody who attended both those nights and to all the friends from those days.
Keep on!

What's The Buzz Radio Show - 3 Keys Modernist Weekender - 2015

The venue was stunning with Modernists from all over the UK attending for what promised to be the first explosive event of the year. And it didn't disappoint.
I decided to contact all of the evening DJ's and and of course Joe and asked them all for the 4 tracks that they played which helped to make the event stand out.
Joe Tucker, Neil Lee, Alessandro D'Alessio, Dave Edwards, Mark Crew, Adrian Milton, Nick Wain, Mark Shaw and of course me!
We all hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed playing them for you.
I look forward to seeing you on the 3Keys dance floor next May.
The Untamed - My Baby Is Gone (Stateside SS431)
The Untamed - My Baby is Gone/I'll Go Crazy (Stateside SS431)
You know it really amazes me sometimes. Over the last few years the price people are paying for mediocre rare soul, R&B be they original or bootlegs has become ridiculous.
Just recently a 70's bootleg of Lou Ragland - "I Travel Alone" went for over £300+
However that's my gain as this little beauty went up on eVilBay the other week with hardly a whimper and I managed to pick it up for a little over the price of a couple of packets of cigarettes.
Anyway The Untamed were a mid 60's beat group from the south coast of England who had a few releases between 1964/67. However the b-side is what we are really interested in here as it's a full on dance-floor Mod mover of the highest order. "My Baby Is Gone" is just a stunning slice of British beat/soul that has captured the dancers on the UK Mod scene for a good long while. I'm very happy to have this in my #lilredrecordbox

#lilredrecordbox - Barry St. John - Gotta Brand New Bag 1965
Barry St. John - Gotta Brand New Man (Columbia DB7783) 1965
Brand new purchase for me this week and a real belter of a tune.
Her first release on Columbia and to be honest this is one of her finest Mod/R&B dancers with a funky soul edge.
3 Keys Modernist Weekender May 2015
It's been quite a hectic year for Kass and myself.
I've been DJ'ing for other people more and more and not really had the time to organize any events for myself which given what a pain in the arse it's been over the last few years is actually a blessing.
The latest event I am going to be spinning my platters at it the 3 Keys Modernist Weekender over the May bank-holiday (22nd until 24th) in Skegness.
An old pal (Joe Tucker) who runs the Grits & Gravy mod night in Sheffield asked me to come along and DJ for him on the Friday and Saturday night, which I am well chuffed about I can tell you. This event is also co-ran by the top guys from Nottingham's Britalian mod events.
It's probably been about 20 years since I have been to a proper Mod weekender and this one promises to be a blast.
Anyway since being asked to DJ I have also been roped in to do some promo-work for the event.
I've also created some promo-video stuff the weekend which has been a giggle.
Anyway, I'll pop some more info about how the weekend went soon.
See you on that dancefloor.
I'm back baby!
So it's been quite a long time since I have added any posts to this blog so I thought I had better pull my finger out and do some stuff.
